As I stepped off the plane and onto the tarmac of the Juanda International Airport, I couldn't believe that I had finally made it. More than 10,000 miles from home, I had traveled to the city of Surabaya, Indonesia, with just one goal in mind - to photograph the Al-Akbar Mosque.
I had always been fascinated by the beauty and grandeur of Islamic architecture, and the Great Mosque of Surabaya had always been at the top of my list. So when I heard about a photography competition that would take me there, I knew I had to enter.
And now, as I made my way through the crowded streets of Surabaya, I could feel my excitement growing with every step. The Great Mosque was just a few blocks away, and I could already see its towering minarets rising up above the city skyline.
I arrived at the mosque just as the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm and golden light over the scene. I set up my camera on the tripod and carefully composed my shot, focusing on the intricate details of the Great Mosque.
As I snapped shot after shot, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence for the place. The Great Mosque of Surabaya was truly a masterpiece of Islamic architecture, and I knew that I was fortunate to be able to capture it in all its glory.
As the evening light faded and the stars began to twinkle in the sky, I packed up my camera and made my way back to my hotel. It had been an epic journey, but it was one that I would never forget. And as I drifted off to sleep, I knew that I would always treasure the memories of my time in Surabaya, and the chance to photograph the grand architecture of the Al-Akbar Mosque.
