What does it mean to walk alone but never be lost?
The first rays of the sun stretched across the golden plains of Amboseli, illuminating the colossal form of an elephant against the distant majesty of Mount Kilimanjaro. The hush of the morning was broken only by the rustle of the tall grass and the rhythmic tread of the giant moving with unshaken purpose.
I lifted my camera, knowing this moment was a gift. Wildlife photography demands patience and reverence, especially in the presence of one of Earth’s most threatened creatures. The African elephant, a “Giant of the Savannah,” has roamed these lands for centuries, yet each sunrise finds them fighting for survival.
The great beast walked forward, framed by the towering peak. “He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.” (Psalm 18:33). The elephant did not waver, nor did the mountain behind him—silent witnesses to the ever-changing world, yet unshaken by it.
As I pressed the shutter, I knew I was capturing more than a photograph. It was a moment of endurance, of quiet faith in the journey ahead. No matter the trials, the path was still before us, leading ever onward.
