"Could the hands of time be stilled by the eye of a lens?" I pondered, setting my tripod in the sand of Oceanside, where the grand Pier stretched into the Pacific like the arm of God, reaching endlessly for the horizon.
The mid-day sun bathed the world in light so stark, each grain of sand seemed to hold its own spark of life. The taste of salt lingered on my lips, mingling with the sweet hint of ice cream from a nearby vendor, a melody of flavors as vivid as the laughter of children dancing in the waves.
The rhythm of the ocean was a constant hum, a lullaby for the restless, while the cries of gulls wove through the air, stitching earth to sky. The smell of the sea, a blend of brine and freedom, filled my lungs, anchoring me in the now.
To capture a 15-minute long exposure in the brilliance of day required a dance with light and shadow, a delicate negotiation with the very essence of time. My camera, armed with a dark filter, became a vessel to voyage beyond the present, to a place where the waters turned to glass and the people to ghosts, their movements a blur of life too vibrant to be contained.
As I released the shutter, time stretched and folded, moments layered upon moments in a silent symphony. The Pier, once thrumming with action, became a serene passage to eternity, its image a dream sculpted by patience and light.
This photograph was my ballad to Oceanside, a canvas where time itself paused to rest, if only for a breath.
